Telehealth
For your safety and convenience, our Providers can now see patients through scheduled virtual appointments on a secure platform. Virtual appointments are only available for routine office visits and cannot be used for emergency medical care.
What is Telehealth?
A telehealth appointment uses live audio/video technology to connect patients with their Providers who are in a different location. We use a program called pMD to achieve this connection.
How does a Telehealth appointment work?
Once your provider determines a telehealth appointment would be a good option for you, a scheduler will then call you to discuss this type of appointment. Once scheduled, you will receive a text appointment confirmation.
What tools and technology will I need?
To participate in this type of appointment, you will need to have the following:
- Cell phone or tablet (android or iPad tablets) with both audio and video (camera) capabilities
- Internet connection
What system will I use for my telehealth appointment?
VOA uses pMD, a secure virtual platform to connect with your provider. You will receive a text confirming your appointment with a link to log in and set up your password for the platform. Depending on the device you are using, there will be a few steps to download the app (software application) required to connect.

What space do I need at home for my video appointment?
You will need a quiet and private space free from interruptions (ex. Pets, TV, family).
What about co-pays?
You will receive a bill for any co-pays after your insurance processes your claim.
What if I need assistance with downloading the pMD app?
As VOA staff are available, we hope to be able to call patients scheduled for their first telehealth visit the day before to assist with any challenges. Support is available through pMD at 1-800-587-4989 option 1.
What if I do not have the required technology – do I still have to come into the office?
If you do not have the required technology, your provider may be able to conduct a telephone-only visit.
If you are interested in a video telehealth appointment please call our office and select option #3 for scheduling.
