Biography
Dr. Kruger is an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of LaSalle University and Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then served in the United States Army, where he completed his internship and Internal Medicine residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He completed his fellowship training in Hematology-Oncology at Letterman Army Medical Center and a visiting fellowship in bone marrow transplant at the Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Dr. Kruger is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in clinical research and clinical trials and has developed and delivered numerous educational and scientific presentations. He has served in leadership roles on several national committees within The US Oncology Network, including the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) Committee and P&T Executive Committee, Collaborative Care Committee, Medical Systems Task Force Committee, and Value-Based Care Committee. He also serves as Chair of the US Oncology Network Political Action Committee.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Kruger is committed to advancing medical education and healthcare quality. He chairs one of the Medical Institutional Review Board (IRB) Committees at Old Dominion University and mentors medical students during hematology and oncology clerkships at Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also serves as an oncology consultant to the Medical Policy Committees for Sentara Health and Evolent Healthcare.
Dr. Kruger has served on numerous committees in both the United States and Europe and has received multiple military and civilian honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal (twice), Army Achievement Medal, Commander’s Award for Excellence, and the National Red Cross Volunteer Award. He has also been recognized for many years as a Top Doc in Hampton Roads.
