Biography
Miriam New is a diploma RN graduate from the Riverside School of Nursing. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Christopher Newport University and a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Miriam worked as an RN in Emergency Medicine and Occupational Health for over 10 years before returning to school for her NP in 1997. She completed her NP program in 2000 and worked in Family Practice and Surgical Oncology as a Nurse Practitioner before joining Virginia Oncology Associates.
She is a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner certified through ANCC and a Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners member. She has a special interest in the treatment and follow-up care of breast cancer patients.
Miriam and her husband Steve have two boys, Tyler and Zach. She enjoys spending time with her family, the outdoors, traveling, and reading.
