Biography

Bridgette Nunes is a licensed Physician Assistant with a diverse clinical background and a strong foundation in patient-centered care. Originally from Massachusetts, she began her healthcare career as an emergency medical technician (EMT) while serving in the United States Air Force as an enlisted medical administration specialist.

Bridgette pursued her passion for medicine through studies at a community college in Western Massachusetts before earning acceptance into the Physician Assistant program at D’Youville University. While completing her PA training, she also gained valuable experience working as a nurse at the Niagara County Correctional Facility. She later advanced her education by earning a Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree from Butler University.

Prior to joining Virginia Oncology Associates, Bridgette practiced as a Physician Assistant in emergency medicine, where she developed strong clinical and decision-making skills in high-acuity environments.

She currently provides compassionate, comprehensive oncology care at the Chesapeake oce, working alongside Dr. Alencar and the multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their treatment journey.

Outside of her day-to-day hanging out with her dog Maverick, Bridgette is an active member of the Norfolk community, participating in and hosting community cultural events in Hampton Roads. As a first-generation American, she loves traveling internationally, followed by a firm recovery at home by the ocean.
