Biography
Andrea Edwards has been a practicing Physician Assistant since 2010 and has been practicing in the field of hematology and oncology since 2011. She received her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She completed a year of practice in Orthopedics before joining Virginia Oncology Associates.
In 2017, Andrea became the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Supervisor, while continuing to practice clinically. She is focused on providing compassionate and evidence-based care to her patients. In 2023, she became the APP Manager with Virginia Oncology Associates (VOA). She played an integral role in the development of various programs at VOA to include Survivorship, an urgent care oncology clinic, inpatient APP utilization, onboarding of new APPs, an oral adherence program and APP leadership framework. She is passionate about continued growth and advancement of Advanced Practitioners in Oncology. She acts as a preceptor to students from a variety of institutions. She has a special interest in breast cancer and survivorship.
When Andrea isn’t working, she enjoys skiing, stand-up paddleboarding, traveling, watching Pittsburgh Steelers football and being outdoors. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children.
